    The teacher kept fighting you off @Mikey every time you shoved an apple in his face.
    Worth attending if you have no clue with CPR like me. Still not convinced with the hi viz tho.

    @MaDProFF I don’t think you’d need a nappy for a hairy bum moment, maybe a razor?

    The hi - viz won't stop anyone trying to kill you but at least you can feel extremely smug when the Police and insurance company agree you've done your best to protect yourself and your witnesses stand around saying "how could he miss that pink vest and big headlights coming round the corner?". It doesn't mend your bones any faster but at least you have the moral high ground. Petty, but satisfying :) Having said that I don't stress about it. Mostly I wear it but I never really believed it would work and I don't always bother.

    As the copper on my Bikesafe said, Hi-viz won't help if drivers aren't looking. The problem I have is that the onus is now being put onto the rider & not ALL road users to actually look properly. With all & sundry now wearing hi-viz ( Emergency services, Road maint crews, cyclists... the list goes on) you no longer stand out. I said the same when all cars were made to have daytime running lamps. Bikes no longer stand out from the crowd.

    I'll happily agree to wearing extra hi - viz if car manufacturers agree to turning all those daytime running lights off again. I think it's the worst thing that's ever happened to us. :cry:

    Its a EU directive rather than a manufacturers choice for cars. This is a snippet from the DoT policy paper on them published in 2010. As its the only page I can find on the government website, I think its safe to assume that its not been updated in the last 7 years.

    but the other way round for motorcycles.

    The next bit is a real kicker though

    If I'm reading that correctly, motorcycles were, at the time of that article being published, not allowed to have similar DRL's fitted.

    The full policy paper is HERE for those wishing to read the complete publication.

    The AA made me smile today. After telling them we had broken down and that John was unwell they managed to get someone to us in 20 minutes. Once we were on our way again we had an escort all the way home, in case we didn't make it. Marvellous! Every year we say what a waste of money it is when we never call them but we were very happy to see them today. Worth every penny.

    After years of thinking how pathetic my Street Triple horn sounded I was given a Denali Soundbomb mini for Christmas. It's already on the bike and it's VERY LOUD! I like it :)

    Mine couldn't have sounded worse. It was cross between one of those bicycle bulb horns and a duck with a very sore throat. Once the engine was running you had to listen carefully to check it was working. I'll probably scare myself if I need to use it for real.
