as usual most isp's help lines will just tell you to disconnect the line, wait a bit, then once that doesnt work blame the router and then if its supplied by them they will send out another one. only after much wrangling do they finally get a bt engineer to visit and check the hardware/phone lines. :bhead:

not like i deal with this area much .. one of the joys of living in a rural area with decrepit phone system

cheers that what i tried this morning, i have traced the fault not to anything with my pc or even connection, it's the provider. i think they banned me  and all i was looking up was a basic nuclear fusion website  :giggle:

Who is provider? tbh with all the problems in the states weather wise there has been a few problems of late with net, (surprising how many ISPs route to the states and back even to go to a UK site, though not quite a bad as it used to be) TALK TALK was down a few days ago for me for quite a few hours. Sometimes you have to leave router off for 20 mins to make sure everything is cleared to pick up new settings automatically if an ISP has made changes and been down a period of time etc.

Riding over to St Leonards (Watling Tyres) ......had to go the Norman's Bay road due to accident on main road.....soooo, flooding, potholes, debris.....slow cars....only to get to the garage for new front tyre to be told "Hasn't your bike got a centre stand? It is far too big for the jack/lift we have here"..........ITS A CRUISER!!!!!! they had asked what bike it was when I phoned them for a quote FFS! I asked if they could not just jack it up on a trolley jack...."oooh no madam, not allowed to do that!"....sooooo, on the plus side, had a bloody marvellyarse ride back due to main road being reopened and me doing the "ride aggressively and get it all out" thing. But, I still have an almost illegal tyre on front, and the bike is positively filthy! Guess who is taking the wheel off herself now, like she really should have done in the first place

Argg!! Hubby goes for a "quick" morning ride with his dad and his dad's mates ON MY BIKE!!! I haven't even had a ride on him yet cause waiting for the lowering links!

Quick morning ride??? He left at 0800 and it's 1330 and he's only half way back!!!

I'll skin him and have stern words to my treacherous Ouzo!! :fume: :fume: :fume:

Ticks me off how some drivers rely on having the roads gritted to get around, rather than their brains. Isn't it about time the responsibility was given back to the drivers & if it wasn't for the certainty of being sued by grabbing lawyers maybe they should try a winter of nil grit other than designated hotspots after media publicising. Of course the roads would need to be repaired & sealed first, oh I've just answered my own rant:rolleyes:.
Yes & those roads used by year round bikers'd need grit too:p .

I think the problem is when they do not grit, or more the case grit at the right time, and then there is a load of accidents, and the times they grit for no reason at all and way to early. you never know untill in most cases it is too late

Winter Tyres should be made law in the winter in this country, they work fine in all weather and anything below 7c they start to improve over a normal tyre, even in the dry, a winter tyre on sheet ice and you stop, unlike normal tyres. on a side note really must get them swapped over on my car, (had winter tyres fitted on my van for the last 3 years, all through the summer too)

I've a mate up north who uses winter tyres all year & swears by them for those very reasons. Maybe I'll look for some cheap steel Focus wheels.

Well we all have that heart stopping moment when your doing something to your bike and you drop a bolt or something small.. well i had that today while changing my brakes (notice how i spell brake right that time ;) ) well i dropped an allen key head..thing? from the ratchet to get the rear brake off and it went into some little gap which the only way to get to was to get the caliper off.. never mind had to do that anyway, get the caliper off and need pliers to pick it up... now all i done on my rescue attempt was push it further down... so i think bugger.. now what... i cant see it and i dont know where its gone.. so i have a look around, nope not on the floor.. deffinalty not were i last saw it.. WHAT its inside the swing arm.. how the F*ck it got there i dont know :hairout: but its okay i know what im gunna do to get it out just gotta get me a padock stand and then undo the things you use to align the wheel so the back of the swing arm comes off and fingers crossed i'll be able to reach it.. i think i described what i'm gunna do to get it out really bad but i dont know how else to describe it lol other than that the brake pad change was fine :)
