Just to let everyone know, Lizzy had an off on the way back from Bury Hill yesterday. Not sure of the details , but it involved her, Rob Low and a car turning right at a small T junction near a B road bend. Rob and bike weren't damaged, but Lizzy crashed heavily into a hedge/verge, ZX10 had damaged fairings, bent brake lever and cracked footrest bracket. Lizzy had a very sore right knee. With the help of a very kind local, ex bike racer, we gaffa taped the fairings to the tank and frame and proceeded slowly as far as Cooksbridge pub, The Rainbow, on A275. At the pub, Lizzy's knee was very swollen and painful, so while we waited for AA rescue, we had a few drinks and watched Rob eat a very large pork roll. Eventually the AA turned up and loaded bike onto a trailer, delivered it to Tunbridge Wells and Lizzy got a lift to A&E in Tunbridge Wells. She spent many hours waiting for pain killers, X rays and treatment , but is now at home recovering and waiting to return to hospital to see a specialist about a knee cap that may be in the wrong place.
The above is made all the more upsetting, because while we were at Bury Hill, Lizzy told us that she would be going to hospital on Friday for an operation , as she has breast cancer. She thinks it has been found in it's early stages and hopefully the prognosis is good. She has had to cancel planned trips to the Nurburgring and Northern Ireland road races and now she has a broken bike and insurance to contend with. She is not one to make a fuss and is already joking about her future possible hair loss. I hope you will all join me in wishing her a speedy recovery from her knee problem and her operation on Friday. I have no details about visiting etc, and will pass them on to you as soon as I get them.

So sorry to hear this Lizzy. Triple whammy, bike, knee and cancer! I hope everything goes well with your recovery.

Like a relative of mine stay positive, and regard any hair loss as a fashion statement. Good luck.

Get well soon. I have plenty of duct tape to fix the bike with. Might even go mad and buy some in green just in case :D

Hopefully the treatment won't knock you for 6 too much  and the knee will be sorted quickly.

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. Alan's duct tape efforts were grand indeed and did allow me to ride the bike to the pub, shame the knee didn't hold up as well, but then again the very nice AA man dropped off my bike, put it's cover on and then took me to A&E. It wasn't the ideal final ride out before my op on Friday, which will keep me off the bike for far too many weeks. A big thank you to Rob, Kevin and Alan for making the ride as much fun as it was to Bury Hill, sorry I mucked up the riding home part. I am sure that the thought of getting out on the Triumph for some more fun ride outs with you all will keep me going through any tough times ahead.:)

Just a quick up-date on my Cancer Op. It all went to plan, they got all of the tumour out and best news is that the Lymph nodes they removed showed no signs of cancer, so it hasn't spread. I haven't seen the oncologist yet, but the surgeon thinks that I will not have chemotherapy but go straight to radiotherapy for a course that will be everyday for 4 weeks. It will be at Maidstone hospital, which is a bit of a trek, especially as I will drive past the new hospital at Pembury to get there. Treatment should start in approx. 3/4 weeks time as they have to make sure my op wounds have totally healed. The side effects of radiotherapy are skin burns (I have been told like very bad sunburn with blistering) and extreme tiredness that can last a few weeks after treatment has finished. So no bald jokes required!! There will be another treatment after this which will be long term pill popping, but I don't know the full details of that yet.

So it is all good news and I am on track to getting back out on 2 wheels before the end of the season. I hope end of July I'll be OK for some quiet short rides and aim to get back to full fun rides by September. I will of course push my luck and try to get back before this :D

Oh and :moon::moon::ner::moon::moon: to my cancer:finger::finger::finger::finger:
