Thinking of getting one. Anyone ridden or owned one? Good points / bad points? It's a 2005 standard bike.

    Thanks!

No but they look good don't they? Didn't Aprilia have trouble with their spares network/dealerships? Use to take weeks for bits to arrive anywhere in the UK... might've changed by now.

TBH that could be said of most manufacturers - everyone's had trouble somewhere. We've got an Alfa and people always said the same of them... but (touch wood), we've had no issues.

The bike I've found has only done 1300 miles, so shouldn't need too much in the way of parts... apart from the usual little 'extras' that we all bolt-on ;).

Perhaps find one at a dealer and test ride that ;) if the dealer mileage is more then you know the one for sale above rides at least as good as that.

I had the rsvr a few years ago and apart from the lack of a fairing and the flat bars they are identical. They don't de-tune their naked bike like some either. In my opinion a very well sorted bike, loads of grunt and sweet handling, especially if you get the one with Ohlins kit!!! Oh and Brembo brakes!!! Not too good on fuel economy but v-twins never are really. I'm pretty sure the dealer problems that Les mentioned have been addressed. I can recommend Bowen Moto in Chatham who is an Aprilia dealer and very professional. Good luck with it mate.

i know a few people who have them and i have to say neither of them have complained. not sure the faring is that great as one day it was only me and the Tuoro bringing up the rear on a motorway blat and both of us were holding on for dear life. was pretty quick going thou 2 busa, bmw rr, zx10 and a gtr all racing so not something that would happen every day

I could be misreading this but I have a BIG v-twin & I think my sig shows different. ;) This is still my current fuel consumption as riding with you lot means my bike probably gets ridden faster than a lot of cruisers out there. :D

I knew of someone who raced one & said nothing could touch it on bends. My 990 does between about 35-50 mpg but as said, most v twins are heavy users when revs, instead of torque alone are used.
