Not sure how many have had the same problem where thier cradle no longer charges the tomtom but i have had 4 cradles now and each one developed the same problem, only just got around to investigating it.
Firstly the cause....i suspect that as the cradle was installed direct to the battery as per manufacturers instruction and as my reg rec was failing , the cradle probably recieved an unhealthy dose of electricary and as i replaced each cradle it continued to chew them up until it failed totally.
now i have checked the pcb within each unit and found each one had different components frazzled
    1. one of the pins had burnt through where it passes into the unit and the 2a pcb fuse was fried
    2. had several components that were burnt out and open circuit
    3. had something burnt out to the point it kept blowing bike fuses
    4. had just the 2 a fuse blown.......2amp fuse wire soldered externally across the old fuse and hey presto its working again
whislt at it i decided to remove the weak link that is the plug under the cradle and replace the .5mm cableing supplied with 1.mm cabling.
this was then soldered to the pins in the cradle and then into the low beam headlight circuit within the headlight itself also replaced the wingnut effort for the sprung loaded arm with a 6mm roofinf bolt and nut so now requires tools to remove .....outcome ......a hard wired tomtom cradle that now works and is a permenant fixture unless you have tools to remove it.

p.s i know tomtom replace these free of charge as i have had 4 but the last one they did start to question things and now i suspect i know the cause i reckon ive had more than a fair share of thier gratuity
