Bloody hell... you'd think thieves would go for something a little less unique? Is it likely that they would have been stolen to order?

They are gorgeous bikes; I should have thought that fans of the marque would be very particular about provenance and all UK dealers at least would check chassis and engine numbers when asked to service. But, but...

I suppose they will have been stolen for their parts? There used to be a specialised bike theft group in the Met, I believe, but it was under threat due to budget constraints (had been very, very successful). They could be shipped abroad, I suppose, and perhaps the trail is harder to follow then.

Unfortunately I suspect that they're probably the wrong side the Channel now. What a bunch of c*nts... made even worse by the fact that the theiving bastards who stole the bikes may even know the owner (since they knew where the bikes were). Soooo, be VERY careful about who knows where your bike's kept. Jees, it's just gutting. Poor guy.

Yep, Ken German was the Met's motorcycle theft expert, who is now a civilian bike security 'consultant', as you said...budget cuts. Must be hard to fence something so specialized but they'll always be some lowlife willing to take it on.
