I am thinking about modifying my CB but I want to get an idea of how much the Dyno run, custom map and the fittings (power commander, de-cat, tail tidy, end can) would come to. I got a quote from HM racing and they wanted £315 + VAT

That was with 3 hours work, work rate £50 per hour and £165 for Dyno and mapping.

That seemed a bit steep, anyone know of another respectable Dyno place (except amazing motorbikes in erith) ?

They wanted £315 all in? I'd tear their arm off in taking it.

    PC : £300
Decat : Say an hours welding / labour if you're fast
End can : £90-£600 depending on your choice
Tail tidy : Again, down to choice / style but upwards of £100
Hi flow air filter (no sense opening the exhaust and not the inlet) : £45

Dyno time is usually measured by the hour at a rate of circa £50 as there's no moving parts to be altered on an FI bike it's just labour charge. Expect about an hour to 90 mins for a custom map.

Although the question poses, what do you want it for? The bike has no shortage of usable power and the relative gain from a can etc is minimal for road use. For better noise, remove the cat / fit an end can and the ECU will adjust to match - no dyno time.

The rule is that you only need an auxillery fuel controller once the ECU can't adjust enough, this is usually only once you make 2 changes to the intake / exhaust system.
An example of a single change would be any of:
    De-cat
    High flow air filter
    Airbox mod
    End can

Because a full exhaust system removes the cat, that counts as 2 mods and therfore requires the PC / Bazzer Box to assist the fuelling.

If you want the bike to feel like it has more GO! Then save yourself several hundred pounds and buy a front sprocket with 1 tooth less.
You'll lose a small % of the top speed that you never use and gain a healthy pant filling excitement factor.

Of course if you want the mods just to say you have them, knock yourself out.

The £315 (+ vat) was for the Dyno run, custom map and fitting the parts. Its going to be an expensive venture as I'm determined to get an end can and de-cat so like you say, I need the PC etc.

So you think £315 is a good deal? I won't be going through with it anytime soon as i have other debts to pay off first but I certainly want it done before march/April next year.

If you assume £90 of that is the dyno time, then it's 4 hours (ish) labour to fit the undertray, wire the PC and do the exhaust.

You could save a lot by doing the work yourself then just paying for the mapping, it's all basic stuff. Bound to be a member nearby that's handy with a wrench if you need it. I'll be up and running by then eitherway, so can always come lend a hand.

I can fit the end but not the rest !

It only takes about 10 minutes but if I hand the bike over and they say something like 'the end can is on wrong so it took longer blah blah' then i could be having a disagreement with the fitters. So I was just going to hand over the gear and let them get on with it.

I bought the end can about 3/4 months ago, it's a Leo Vince one from flea bay but it's a bit scratched and it didn't make much difference in terms of sound or performance.

I make decat pipes for CB1000Rs mate. Can make you a silencer if you don't wanna pay big money for a Yoshi R77 or Akra???
