Well, it is the final bash of the race season and both Screw Loose Racing and Pop Up Rob Racing will be getting out on track and having a last racing fling before the race bikes hibernate for the winter. :Whoo3:
Being a tad optimistic about my fitness levels I will be out as a passenger on the classic sidecar as well as riding in the Production 400s . This means 4 races Saturday and maybe 4 Sunday. (I may have to forfeit one on Sunday as I am supposed to be out in race 1 and race 2 . Think back to back may just finish me off )
I still don't have my little green machine back but, all being well, a racing friend is kindly lending me one to use. (fingers crossed)
Will be there from Friday till Sunday, hopefully there will be a band on Sat night. May also be a tad :brr: but a tot of rum and a hot water bottle should help.
The fun kicks off at 9am on Sat and 10.30am on Sunday.
Race programme is attached. (There may even be a couple of tickets going spare too if people give me the heads up in time)

I might be able to do Sunday.

So will you sitting out one of the sidecar races? A bit cheeky I know but let me know if there's an opportunity to be a passenger in a sidecar race, I've wanted to do that for many years.

It will probably be the 400 race I sit out lol. Do you have your ACU licence? Always worth bringing gear if so. There are rides coming up every now and then, particularly when - in the words of mate who's a sidecar driver, - "we break the passenger". You do need a passenger ACU though. Worth registering for one next year, then if need for a passenger comes up I could let you know.

You can just get it added on, doesn't cost anything. Can do online or give them a ring. Oooh, I will have a scout around and see if anyone else is looking for a passenger :D:D

According to the website I'm all good to go. I've sat the classroom part, done practice starts and the rest so hopefully I'll be fine.

Well Screw Loose racing has been nothing if not consistent this year , not a single round has gone smoothly and this was no different

    Day 1.
It was a busy Timetable for Leila with back to back races first the 400 then the sidecar straight afterwards which would have to be waiting in the collection grid for Leila to give her 400 to someone to park as soon as jumping off it before jumping on the sidecar. Manic and nearly impossible
However faith played it's part , having managed to borrow another 400 whilst hers is still being repaired which she hadn't even done a single lap on.
The first time on track saw the bike breakdown before completing even one lap :mad::mad:
Still this meant more focus could be given to the sidecar , qualifying went well so on to the main race. An amazing start saw Alan and Leila way out in front :D:D:D:D:D:D:D in fact so far out in front that it turned out they may have gone before the lights changed :giggle::giggle:
The race was restarted and soon settled in mid pack . Pushing on each lap Alan was pushing harder and harder until clipping the grass saw the back step out, he caught it but unfortunately the front dug in and flipped the sidecar throwing Alan and Leila. A few aerobatics and both rider and passenger hit the deck followed by the sidecar hitting Leila. That ended the race with a red flag while the medical staff collected the battered racers.
Alan had broken his arm and possibly his hand too, Leila faired better with just bruising and yet another knock to her head, luckily it's impossible to notice when she is concussed or not.

The race paddock being what they are had been able to assist in getting the borrowed bike working and while Leila was in the medics office I bolted it back together in case it either needed to go back in the van or just in case she could race.

However it was decided to call an end to day one and worry about day two instead.

    Day two
Leila was aching but able to ride
however on the way to practice she was still having bike issues :(:( so practice was missed
I was then asked to try the bike around the paddock to see what I thought luckily my extra weight highlighted the issue very quickly and the bike had a race shift set up so was being used in the wrong gear
Leila quickly spun that around to get it back to road shift she is used too.

So she lined up for her first race having done zero laps on a bike she didn't know against others now on their third race and serval practice session
Still a great start was made ,she wasn't going to sit with the front runners on an unknown bike so after a few laps the leading 4 were far enough ahead and those behind were far enough behind Leila had a lot of space around her and settling in to a smooth few laps, Bringing the bike home still running and in one piece :bike::bike:

    Race 2
A better start yet again so she held the front runners a little longer but they were quick , The rest of the race saw her again ending up on her own for a while but improving by close to a second and the borrowed bike sounded amazing :D
Still the fastest lady on the day and finished the second race without any thing else going wrong , which for this season is a bloody big bonus .

I bet she aches tomorrow :hah::hah::hah::hah::hah::hah: and when she gets enough :cash::cash: to fix her bike and Alan has spent many hours fixing the sidecar Screw loose racing will be back next year for some more crazy and fun adventures :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Thanks for the write up Tom - brilliant! And a massive thank you for helping get the electrics sorted and the little 400 running on Saturday even though I didn't get to ride it that day. A massive thank you to Emma, Mikey and everyone else who helped cheer, pack bikes up and generally be a great support.
Alan has a broken wrist. We did wonder if his left hand was also broken but luckily it is just a bit battered. At least it's the end of this season and hopefully he will be fully repaired by the time racing starts next year.
I was pretty battered and had some very impressive bruises. Plus as Tom said, yet another knock to the head. Probably just as well I didn't try getting out on Saturday as I was still giving the impression of someone who'd had rather a lot to drink once I left the med centre.
What a season it's been for Screw Loose racing. Lets hope next season has less drama and rain :rain: , more sunshine :hotw: and fun .
Despite everything, I still love it!
