Not totally acurate about the enforcement issue.

There is no requirement for the evidence to be recorded on camera. A single Policeman can follow for a mininimum of 3/10 od a mile on non motorway roads or 1 mile on a Motorway, and his opinion is then corroborated by a callobrated speedometer (essential that it is callibrated)

They also missed out the offence of speed reckless which does not require any corroborating evidence at all, but simly evidence of opinon (which is permissable from a traffic policeman)m but in most cases would result in a prosecution for careless driving as seed reckless is an offence that is very rarely used these days

And in a following check, no print out is given.

There were other inaccuracies, but it was getting boring going through it all

So don't take it all as gospel, that is the point I was making albeit badly.

i have to say that the increase in fines does yet again look like a TAX rather than a safety thing.
Why would a speeder face a higher fine than someone who has stolen a car or motorcycle ?
Why is it likely to be a higher fine for speeding than not being insured ?
Average speed cameras, mobile speed cameras in fact any thing that doesn't stop the driver and educate them at the point in time of the speeding is simply a TAX. If it was so dangerous then surely stopping someone in the act rather than allowing them to drive for another 14 days without a talking too simple doesn't hold water.

Funny but since these increases came in I have seen more speed traps than in the six months previous.
I can only assume that speeding suddenly became more dangerous as a direct result of the increase in the costs of fines.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
