That is terrible. I experienced this myself in November 2014 so completely understand where you are at this moment in time. I had a very well paid job but I also hated it. Took the opportunity to reinvent myself, and took a HUGE gamble with a career change and I haven't looked back.

You may not feel this now but this could be the thing that defines you, builds your character and gives you focus. My life changed dramatically but also for the better. Broaden your horizons, maybe look outside your comfort zone.

In my example I was a hardware specialist with a rather large company called Oracle (formally with Sun Microsystems). Had been in I.T. for 24 years but decided to start a flooring company with a friend who has been in the game for 25 years. Massive change but it is epic.

Don't limit yourself and take this opportunity to go for it.

I remember the feeling, even though it was some years ago. Very upsetting, especially if you enjoyed your work. Best of luck with finding something else quickly. What work were you doing? Maybe someone will know of an opportunity. Sometimes who you know can be more useful then what you know.

It's happened to me A couple of times and although not nice the time, I've always ended up better off, as beelady said it might be worth mentioning what you're looking for because you never know what might turn up. Good luck width the job hunting.

Thanks mate. Food for thought, I've never enjoyed the job anyway. I'm trying to look at it as something that will force me into a brighter future, Unfortunately happy thoughts don't pay the bills haha. Trying to stay positive though

Service engineer for Virgin Media, network and house hold repairs and installation. Its been getting worse, there's no level of care in the job anymore. Life line customers are no longer a priority )a big no no for me when money takes priority over a vulnerable person) over worked and underpaid, I know its a business but there's no care for anything or anyone but cash money.

What you say about who you know is definitely right... I have plenty of stories about just that in my work place.... It's a shame when it works like in some cases

Not a fan of the idea of climbing up a telephone pole haha. Otherwise I have thought of that as an option

To be honest I'd love to do something with bikes. Looking into expedition guide (posh way of saying organizing off roading and touring trips). I love bikes, its the best thing I've ever done

Bit of a fantasy to be fair, but I think its worth researching. 6 years of my current job hasn't done my body or mind any favors
