Just seen your other post: has the bike been recovered or is it having a lay down in the ditch somewhere? Here I go again - more questions...

There's a recovery firm just up the road from me (my bike went there, apparently). Happy to take you for a visit if it's them.

Made the 'phone call I've been dreading and it wasn't good news. My beautiful Street Triple is dead. I am heartbroken. I was sure it would be coming home, repaired and ready to go.

They are still deciding which category it will be. If it's C or D John will repair it as a track bike. It won't be going back on the road. If I can afford another one as well we'll swap the fancy bits onto the new one, but I don't have any faith in Insurance companies so I'll wait and see what they offer. You can be very sure it won't buy one as nice as mine was.

Very sad for you Emma, the triple was a beaut, however, I am sure it will live on being ragged silly on the track now.
Chin up girl. See you soon.

Be prepared for an expensive 'buy back' price, it's worked out on a % of the value they put on your bike. The % changes from model of bike, insurance companies etc and of course if they class it Cat C or D, but I'm sure most will be around the same. It's nothing like buying back a car. Hope you get it sorted soon Emma.

wasn't today but Friday....following a bit of umming and arring over our dog we felt that her lack of appetite and heavy breathing meant she needed to see a vet and so a wek ago the quickest we could get was a local easycare vet...she checked our sharmel over and came back with a diagnosis of a "possible" heart condition and fluid on her lungs for which she prescribed some drugs , 1 to improve her hearts efficiency and the other to clear the fluid and I hasten to add they seemed to do the trick as after 24hrs she showed a 75% improvement and after 48hrs she was back to being our 5 yr old amazingly loving bullmastiff constantly craving our attention and following me about as usual ......strangley I wasn't happy ...the diagnosis was all a bit to Blaise (if you know what I mean) and so we booked an appointment at our usual vets for a second opinion. we entered the surgery and made no indication of her diagnosis and just asked for a simple health check which came back as all good but for a faint heart irregularity on one side, possibly a murmur and that without an ultrasound it would be impossible to determine fully if it was a sticky valve or something, we came clean and gave full disclosure to the previous diagnosis to which our vet commented was as we suspected vague. no questions asked we instructed an ultrasound and booked her in for a day later .....Friday morning and off we went and dropped her off at 08.45 , at 12.00 we got a call from the vet and received the most devastating news we could have imagined, the drugs she had been given for her heart were actually masking the true state and the ultra sound revealed a tumour on her heart, causing fluid in the sack around her heart leading to the fluid on her lungs, our fist question was "what can be done" ...obviously ...the answers were .........if left as is and treated with drugs she had 3 months at best and it would be a rapid decline ...with surgery to improve the fluid drain around the heart she would have 10 months at best and her decline again would be rapid.
either way only left me with the choice of allowing our baby to suffer ...she was making choices already ...do I breath or do I forgo that and eat ...she was opting to breath leading to drastic weight loss, our earlier research on her not eating turned up a trait in the breed losing appetite in hot weather making this hard to spot until her breathing became extremely laboured ( beyond hot weather panting for a big dog) in the end I made the heart breaking choice to have her put to sleep preferring to send her on her way while she was ( albeit under the cloak of drugs ) our sharmel. Never did I expect to be making that decision that day, at worst we expected a massive cost for the rest of her life in drugs for a heart condition ( which I would gladly give to have her back).
we returned to the vets at 2pm to be with her, she wasn't going to make it easy.... instantly bowling me over and completely soaking me and Jen with kisses on the floor, the vet appeared and laid a fleece on the floor for her to lay on and we sat on the floor around it, but she was no ones fool ...."last time I laid down you shaved me" ......you could see it in her eyes so she opted to sit .....ON ME ........and that's how our baby left us .........in my arms ......I actually felt the life drain out of her as she went limp and her head fell into the crease of my arm ......the vet checked and confirmed she had gone ...........20 seconds later and still cradling her in my arms, absolley sobbing our hearts out Sharmel gave one final swallow as if to say goodbye ( we know it was only muscular contractions but hey....let us have our dreams ).
and here i am 3 days later sharing the moment and STILL crying. RIP Sharm ..im sorry.

Taken last Wednesday so her alert look and condition are a result of approx. 4 days of drugs which with small thanks gave her back her breathing and the ability to eat like a horse.

I know we had a chat about it on Sunday before last, like I said Pete they are like Children to some people, and should be treated so, I used to. So when We lose it them it is like losing one of the family :(
