On a long shot I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using Minerva custom ear plugs. I can get a good deal on them but I'm struggling to find anyone's opinions on them through goooooooogle.

If not, anyone want to throw a recommendation for hearing protection my way?

    Any helps appreciated

I just use the yellow foam ones that you get in most builders merchants, never had a problem with them.

I use a pair of ear buds I got free with an old samsung mobile phone.Block out enough noise but can still hear whats going on around you. I find "normal" ear plugs make me feel "floaty"

I know what you mean, then foam ones don't agree with me at all. Think I may go for these Minerva ones after doing some reading. They retails for 115 but I can get them for about 60. There filtered and seem to be of a good quality, so hears (bad pun) hoping that they'll be good

I use the same ones I use for my music .. come with different filters to block out less/more noise .. I cant ride with ones that block out too much as I prefer to be able to hear some things whilst riding..

    Har de har :p

well the ones I'm eyeing are filtered and block out 24db. Not sure how that applys to their real world but I figure if I get 30db ones they won't be great for my inevitable blue tooth purchase in future

I use these as nothing else stays in my little ears lol: http://uk.earpeace.com/ They have two different inserts for db levels and are only £10 a pop plus come with spare earplug in case any go missing.
However I have just received my moulded ones from Mercury http://www.mercuryhearing.com/. They were £45 standard but you can get ones that enable headphone attachments etc. I haven't tried them out yet but hope to on Sunday.

I have the same problem as they are repeatedly springing out as I'm trying to put my helmet on and wondered about the efficiency of these ear plugs re: sound levels and bluetooth effectiveness with some of these devices as I want to ride and still have work able to reach me on the phone?

I have Bluetooth in my helmet and I use the Mercury earplugs with the tiny channel. It reduces the db sufficiently but allows me to hear what's around and also use my in built Bluetooth for phone calls and music.

That's pretty much what I'm looking for as the next thing for me to get is a bluetooth set. I'm currently eyeing up those cheap BT ones. Think after the advice I've been given I'm going for the minerva earplugs as I can get them discounted at about 60 quid.
