One saddlebag or two around the knees? Takes ages to go down, if my experience is anything to go by. Can you kneel?

Having been poached by a school last year (part-time thankfully as still got to keep other job part-time too), which was subsequently converted to an academy, I have been wondering when they would like me to start this term. Bearing in mind term started over 2 weeks ago. I sent and email (more than one actually) to enquire when I should come in and discuss my timetable etc. The reply yesterday was "We haven't decided so there is no point in you coming in yet. We'll be in touch". Clearly they feel that bills can be paid on zero hours (if they could be I would love to know how!!) So why did you poach me in the first place!!!!!

I am very lucky I do have a part-time job and that I get lovely school holidays but

    1. Is this not extreme unprofessionalism?
    2. Doesn't it feel like your skills are undervalued and that they actually don't give a :poop: about you as an employee at all? (not that that should surprise me these days in the educational sector - or many other sectors for that matter)
    3. Surely they would have known what this term's budget was by July and therefore could have let me know then so that I could have cracked on and looked for another job?

Ahh, there we go, :stomp: over. :)

Silly question but did they not give you a start date when they confirmed the job? Every time I`ve been accepted for a job I was always given a start date at the same time. Admittedly I`ve never worked in education but I would think it should still work the same.

I had a start date for last academic year but as it's a new year I guess it's all changed

Well I think that offering someone a job, them accepting said job & then not being contacted is downright rude &, personally, I`m not sure I would want to work for them. Do they not realise you gave up a job based on what they told you?

They do but as I was poached before the academy took over - the new powers that be clearly couldn't give a monkeys! As you said though - I have decided to look for work elsewhere. I'm sure something will crop up :D

Sorry, I didn`t register the bit about the change to an academy. I don`t think you`ll have any trouble finding something else :)

academy changes are a real PITA ,, my wife is a school governor and the local school is changing to an academy soon and from what I understand the actual administration side of things is centralised and somewhat hopeless. Hope you find something soon though

With a group today when no sooner had someone left than someone else started slagging them off for no reason... WTF!!!!

I defended the departed person as there really was no reason to knock them other than the typical 'trying to elevate their own sorry status' so i spoke to the person concerned a couple of times about how i believe it to be bullying only to be told ''if you dont like it, dont come out with us''.. Lol.. what a P***k

Good on you Kev. This person that thinks saying things behind some ones back is clever, should get out of the school playground and if they have a serious problem with something the other person has said/done then speak to them face to face. If it was an attempt to bully and get people on their side - we all know that the "bully" in these situations feels threatened as the other person as they know this person is far better than them at most things in life.

It's a fine line between humour/banter and malicious bullying Redrock but this is continuous from this person/persons. It is undeserved. As we know its usually done behind someones back in an attempt to make themselves feel better or ingratiate themselves to a group. Its very cowardly and insidious. For my sins i usually just blurt out the issue to the person concerned as i get tired of being extra diplomatic when working.

Another person, (connected to the bully i mentioned) once bragged to me about how they created bogus online accounts to try and anonymously intimidate the same person. At the time (to my shame) i laughed but soon realised what kind of man/keyboard warrior does this to another person and brags about it. Really!!!!! I could go on..

Gives me more reason too Fergy as I know one of them pretends this is all funny (defence mechanism eh) . I hate bullies like others have said, but they won't stop me from riding with my friends. I really don't care what they say about me behind my back :D
