Hi HL - tickets purchased but the only times available vary from your booking - that's my problem as I will meet you 30 minutes before 0850 and will wriggle in somehow - I will be riding the blue GTR as per avatar with textiles and a red Shoei flip front - I have no idea how to send a personal message with mobile number!!

Hi John, sorry mate, just got your message :(
    Did you go ?
Didn't know you definitely wanted to come, as I didn't recheck Friday night and I just got up this morning and went, since no one else seemed able to go from here.
Think crossings all got muddled up due to the earlier train stoppage mid tunnel today.
At least the sun was out.

Thanks for the post - I definitely said I would be there and waited from 0815 to 0830 - then toured the car park but did not see your bike. My ticket was for 0615 and my hanger label was D. The delay was a train stuck in the tunnel so I joined a group issued with W and got to Calais at 1130 UK time - I must admit I thought of turning back at Folkestone. But, as you say the sun was out and the roads STILL clear of traffic on a Saturday so my itch to traverse French roads has been scratched. Thanks.

Having seen the picture of the beach I wish I had forgone the family being here and just come anyway. Wonder if there'll be a chance to squeeze another in before winter sneaks up on us?

Well to be honest I used to post up well in advance, book a weekday and collect any number of bikers - generally catching an 0830 and returning 1830 - I had routes down the coast to St Valery, Abbeville or Albert with an inland run back to Calais - somewhere about 150 French miles and still time to shop for cheese and wine - usually a long day and 350 miles so a confident rider and sound bike essential - the support is there for a first timer to pop their cherry :x3:
