Tesco's and old farts who just have to move like they are encased in concrete when putting their purchases in their bags at the checkout. I damn near took root this old geezer took so long. It all had to go in its right place. I am surprised he didn't pull out a set square and ruler he was being THAT precise

Me? Lob it in the bags as fast as possible - job done!!

Being woken after only a few Hrs sleep following a night shift yesterday to be told.my mother was on her way to A&E after her feeling unwell all week.
Mad dash to dress and then a very controlled drive to the hospital ( realised she is in the best place and no point creating another patient by racing)
After they took not one but 3 sets of observations by 3 different people inserted canulars im both arms they decided she was critical and has a suspected internal bleed and required an immediate blood transfusion .
Not sure where they learnt their definition of Immidiate because it too a further 4hrs before they hooked her up for the first unit on the ward.
Been here sleeping on the floor and at 3 this morning they wake her and take blood to check Hgs....not from either canular but yet another new site in her hand.
Come the morning she is off for an endoscopy to start the investigation as to where the bleed may be....:(

Sorry to hear this, Pete. Not all hospitals have a full 'Bleed Rota' so perhaps this caused some part of the delay. If her vital signs are stable for the moment, the bleed may well be serious but they can cope with it. Keep us posted with updates. Which hospital?

She is medway and they have found the bleeds to be 2 ulcers in the intestine and small bowel....bleeding stemed and 72hrs iv treatment to prevent starting again.

That's all perfectly treatable, Pete. It's quite straightforward - uncomfortable for her, depending how amenable her bowel is to investigation, but pain relief can be administered and there should be no more than discomfort.

she is back home....i was shocked when they said she could go home...4 units of blood, and drugs changed to oral from iv ....she is much brighter and with it. popped in her today and she had just gotten into bed for a nap saying she felt tired ( to be expected considering the poor sleep she got at the hospital ) made sure she was only tired and not feeling fatigued or lethargic as before she said no she felt fine just sleepy. my niece lives with her so she has constant observation and she has direct instructions to contact one of us should she feel the slightest bit off. thanks for the support its always good to have the knowledge people are there even if just to lend an ear. i have never been on a ward that fails to observe some form of quiet during the lights out hours ...but this one was like a friggin railway station...nurses ignoring alarm calls ( witnessed them sitting around their desk with thier mobiles while an alarm was going off, slamming cupboards, rattling teacups in the kitchen and i mean as if they were emptying an industrial dishwasher of 100 place settings, and what sounded like a bed being overturned 2 or 3 times night ...add to that a nurse coming in every hour on the hour with no attempt at a silent entry ....i didnt fookin sleep much let alone mum

Hopefully now she's home and able to get properly rested - her recovery will be much smoother.

Yesterday actually but anyway...I went to lube the chain on my bike but noticed that the rear tyre looked a little flat, nope totally flats! Has a nail stuck in it! Now what pisses me off is that the tyre does need replacing soon but I could have eeked out another couple of rides first :( so the new lid may have to go on hold for another month or do I cancel the birthday weekend for the wife?

Did think about that Tom but by the time and hassle I would cause myself by taking the wheel off with my hammer I may as well just a new tyre slung on :)

What peed me off today was working out how many days holiday I have left for the year...six! And I have to save three of those for Xmas!
