I saw something on Facebook that has royally pissed me off, excuse my poor grammar but I need to rant and would like others thoughts
Why do people hate on the police?, if your was involved in an accident or your bike was stolen, you would rely on the police for help so why hate? They do a great job, yes some are better than others but biker cops understand what we enjoy but enjoy it without being caught if you are, suck it up.
If you truly hate something don't be two faced and call the police when you might need them.
Also its not big or cool to hate the police.

Amen, Brother Snail. Like any group, especially those with some apparent or actual power or potential control over other people, many discharge their duties pretty well and there is a minority who would be dishonourable, mean-minded and petty b@2$£ew@2ds in any walk of Life. I have encountered one from each side of the Police gene pool, the most decent and straightforward one being the fellow who came to breath test me on Saturday while I was strapped into a medieval torture device in A&E at Pembury.

We have read recently of some despicable behaviour by one or more members of the Royal security group in relation to a Cabinet Minister ("Plebgate"). I don't believe all I read in newspapers, or at least I don't believe that always represents the entire story, and I readily support the notion that older and senior politicians of all shades can tend towards the pompous (they must have monstrous egos to do what they do).

So: there are good 'uns and bad 'uns in the Police. Just like all of us really, wouldn't you say?

Beautifully put as always sir! Unfortunately us humans remember the negative far easier than the positive.....which could account for bad feelings towards the police being rather plentiful at times

I think this thread may well open a big can of worms

like many things as large as the police they be viewed in different ways, hated by some and loved by others and can be broken down into different areas.

I have quite a few friends on the force but I will still happily speak out on some areas where they fail totally. ok so some of it is down to the powers that be above not having a clue and making it so the bobby on the beat has a hard job. Setting targets so they will focus on easy "crimes" like speeding and not wearing a seatbelt while seemingly not even investigating robberies etc

I guess if you are a policeman and tasked with catching x number of speeders a day then that's what you do, you may not even be happy about it and hence come across a pain to deal with.

it's the courts that are more of an issue giving criminals more rights than victims so why would a police officer worry about investigating when your house gets robbed knowing the piece of scum that did it won't even go to jail.

Are they the first people I will call if my bike gets stolen ? nope I will only call them if I need a crime number for my insurance.

The problem with the police is that a few bad apples end up tarring the rest. Take the latest exploits of a psycho copper who punched a women being held. That sickens me, but there are also those that do an enormous amount of good.

I reckon this thread could have some mileage - that can of worms has most certainly been opened I feel!!

you know the one part I hate the most are the money traps oh sorry I mean speed traps.

why are they never in a place where they could save a life but instead are always on big wide safe roads ? you will only see them near a school when the school is closed and the riders / drivers know that so naturally increase their speeds  hardly a safety measure as is claimed. Or they sit at the end of a long straight like on the A22, a road so wide you can fit 4 cars side by side down it just so they can collect more cash.

I have never seen one in a town centre yet. however plenty of corsa's saxo's etc floor their one litre cars around there

In the last 2 wks the mobile van has visited Hailsham Road in Heathfield at least four times, it even has its own hardstanding by the junction with Park Road.

And lets not get started about the scamera cash cow that sits on the bridge at the bottom of bluebell hill. I ritually give it :finger: as I go past it.

I completely agree about inappropriate scamera locations. Is a pet hate of mine. If these devices must be used then use them for the safety and good of the area, not for lining the pockets of the force!!

Interesting reading...However I thought fixed cameras were put in place by the council and the money collected goes to them not the fuzz, or am I way off? I agree with you Tom but I suppose that their excuse would be something along the lines of 'speed kills' but personally I would like to see as much effort from them on people using phones whilst driving!

Careers for people who were bullied at school? Perhaps for a few but not the ones I know!

As previously mentioned there is good and bad in all walks of life and i suppose if you are doing nothing wrong you should have no contact with them.

I once reported my stolen motorbike to Mr policeman, only for him to tell me that he had seen a group of lads pushing a motorbike that fitted the description of mine and he though it was a bit strange as none of them had any motorcycle gear on and none had a crash helmet, he was on his way back the station and didn't bother to stop and ask the lads what they were doing pushing a motorbike down the road. I never saw my beloved bike again. But apart from this woeful lack of initiative I have no other complaints. I do, however, wish to reserve the rite to change my opinion when I get done for speeding and overtaking on double white lines.

I got stopped for speeding last year 7am Sunday morning , apparently the M20 is A very dangerous road because foreigners use it so rather than do them, I suppose It was easier to give me A ticket and collect the fine. Any way he was a very nice policeman who was, so he said into bikes and not nicking me because I was riding one. He then proceeded to ask me the make of my bike, had he really been into bikes he would have realised it was A Suzuki it's not like it's not written all over it. Yes I was speeding A little bit no argument there.
