Might depend what sort of use it'll get, ie for comfort, speed, load carrying & what shape you are & what sort of roads you like. Bugger it...get a sports bike, you're young & bendy.

As les said we need to know a bit more of what you want to use it for, also budget would help, and I am sure you will get all sorts of replies :MC:

Naked Sports, Street Triple - no discussion. ;)
Sports - anything 600cc as they're all basically identical anyway.

i am a fan of the street triple, however they seem to be very popular, im a little more inclined to get something a bit older, but just as sexy :D

    There's a reason they're so popular, they're fantastic ;)
Pity you didn't ask a few months back, could of had mine.

Not as popular as blue and white chav-tastic GSXR's :p

Ahh you like dull and sedate. Should of said :p

ER-6 isn't a very exciting bike, but try one and if it lights your fire that's what matters. On the road there's not much difference to be found between similar bikes anyway.

Get the Hornet  Dull and sedate it may be but you will never have to worry about a street triple being in front of you for long :D
    plus the repair themselves :):)

As the others have said, depends on what YOU want from the bike. I`ve always had cruisers & love them to bits. Can heartily recommend the Midnight star 1300 HOWEVER since we started doing the forum rallies I`ve been doing a few more longer runs & decided its not suitable for distance riding fully loaded (especially with loud pipes). This in mind, I`ve swapped to a dedicated tourer. I now have the legs of a sports bike to keep up better but (being an old git) also the comfort for the longer runs.

One of the main things is your first years insurance will be quite high (for a bike) so that`s something to bear in mind when choosing. The problem with something like an ER-6 is that, although a good bike (I passed my test on one) you may well get bored with it very quickly & want to upgrade sooner than you (or your budget) would like.

hmmm some good points raised there, i do like the look of the pan euro, and also the 750 shadow, i have a bit of a hankering for honda in honesty.
I seem to have hit a point now tho where deciding what bike is more stressfull then passing my test haha... long distance runs i dont think will be a issue atm, i once did 350 miles on my cbf125 for i have an arse of steel now haha, and moving forward im looking for the dream machine, if i have to wait a while and save some more towards it i will.

On that topic and to give me some ideas if money was no issue what would everyones dream bike me ? (so i can google and drool of course haha)

Rob has been extremely specific about his dream bike. Good luck finding that exact specification, Rob. For myself (with little experience of different types of bike) I want two: a more up to date GSXR 750 than I have currently and one I want to build myself: cafe racer style, I'm not too fussed about the make of the engine and gearbox, since it's going to be stripped right down and wedged into an imitation of a featherbed frame. Modern brakes and running gear ought to keep it safe enough while I pretend I can fabricate everyhing else. Is this a bike for building or riding, though?
