It's the camping. Been twice on the R6 and twice it has hit the deck with no one on it. Must be some kind of reaction. Lol

It turns out that dropping the bike has killed it. Not only did I do some cosmetic damage but knackered the engine hence the issues with it. So now i have to get my insurance company to sort the bike out. Trying to work out how to get me and my luggage home is the next thing to do. :-(.

Daymn, really? What the hell did you drop it off?
What was the diagnosis? Engines are pretty, well, tightly fitted (normally). It's not exactly easy to dislodge an internal part - they wouldn't work if you could.

Lucky I've got lots of garage space these days.

Just from a curb. Maybe didn't help jumping straight back on it. I am hoping it is just a piston ring. It's 80% down on compression in number one. But won't know until the bike is recovered.

I am not sure all the extra weight it had on it helped. The tent alone is over 25 kilos plus a set of panniers and my very heavy roll bag. It nose dived pretty much straight down.

I am fully comp and have no excess which is a good thing.

Makes my day seem not so bad!
Took Blade for MOT....they noticed a slight play in the rear wheel (sprocket to wheel). Removed wheel, then sprocket from wheel and about 1000 bit of metal fell out. Rear Sprocket Bearing totally demolished!
Damn good job it held out on me as this could have been a little nasty.
Thankfully, John Harris Motorcycles had a bearing in stock so we did it there and then.

I'm really sorry to hear of this but am struggling to understand how laying the machine down (onto Leila's helmet) can cause #1 cylinder to lose compression. Might the cylinder head have hit the ground and been cracked or dislodged? Was Leila's head inside the helmet at the time? (...and been cracked or dislodged too)?

What other symptoms were there? Smoke? Vibration? Inability to rev? Overheating?

Ah it didn't do the helmet damage until I lifted the bike back up. Onto her empty helmet :) it did start to lose power shortly after but I put that down to the high altitude and blamed the smoking on mixing oil into the carburettors when it went over.

I may have been wrong :-(

If my head was in the helmet it might have knocked some sense into me but sadly, or not?, it was not the case lol

If the cylinder was 80% down on compression sounds like the piston rings have said goodnight, maybe when it went over it partialy hydraulic locked somehow and then the weakest part failed which was the rings, that would explain a lot of blue smoke from exhaust, unlikely if the cylinder had been damaged from an external force it would be game over instantly.
I hope you get back safe and sound, afriad can't help much on the French side of things, but will help over here if I can.

Thanks mate. I think it was just enough to start the process of it going wrong. But I am hoping once the bike is home it can be sorted. If not then the hornet will be used more. :)

Surely by the time the bike gets home it should have healed itself as your bikes normally do

Everything can be fixed, within reason, just might need a lot of tea along the way!

Or it was already weakened & the fall was enough for it to snap completely.

Could have been that but I had a full service done before the trip and boy was it running well. Scared myself on it a few times :)
