Went out to test ride a bike today & was exactly the same. Felt like I did on the first day I rode without an instructor. All you can do is go out again tomorrow & you`ll soon get back into it.

it happens to alot of us. what makes it worse is the more worried you get about binning it the more dangers you suddenly see so you slow down only to notice more even tinier dangers. At which point your too tense to ride and everything goes to pot but it does get better like learning to ride again just it improves a lot quickier. Then one day you just have a great ride and it's all good and you get back to smiling again.

When I had my off I was a mess on the bike for almost 6 months. I'd have good rides where I felt great, then would go straight back to learner mode!

Stick with it hon. It'll come! I would suggest not riding on your own. Find someone you like their style of their riding, who have good lines and who puts a little challenge in you and follow them for some long rides. Get that comfortability back while being able to follow someone with technique and skill. Worked for me!!

    Good luck. Don't despair!! :hug3:

It's all in your head (which you know already), you ability as a rider hasn't diminished but your trust in that ability has.
What separates okay riders from good riders is mostly attitude, a modern bikes potential will outstrip it's rider in all but very few cases many, many times over. You can trust your bike can handle it, if you give it fair chance.
The other thing that impacts on your riding (like any activity) is your focus on the task at hand and being able to move other things to the side, even back before the big accident, when stunting or racing or just going for a "progressive" blast I would get ready in the same sequence each time.

It's not superstition it's learned response. By putting on your gloves in a particular order after zipping your jacket, starting the bike before tightening your helmet and making that same face to squash the lining back; subconsciously is bringing your mind to attention on the task ahead, rather than drifting about thinking of chores or work, the pub and footy game last night, everything else takes a back seat to what's about to happen.
In my case it went further, making sure the I didn't have clothing tags that scratched or snagged, things in my pockets bugging me by pressing against me while riding.
All of those elements pull you away from being focused on riding and allow more distractions to creep in.

It might help, it's the same practice that most professionals use before their chosen specialty to psych themselves up.

Hmmm I never thought of it like that! Good point. I do the same thing and never really thought about why. But you are right, it is to get you in the right 'head space'.....

Thanks for the food for thought! :10:

Catching up a large group of bikes around 15 riding very slowly, that no cars would over take due to the spacing between them, had to follow them all way from 2 mile south of Edenbridge, finally I managed to get past one, after overtaking a couple cars who would not just before Hartfield, promptly for another car to let them all out at Hartfield junction, and the one I over took just went around me in the jam :( Now couple cars again in front of me, following them up over the forest towards Maresfield. I got past cars again, to follow all the bikes to the top of the forest and got all of them in one go along the long straight before it drops over towards Duddleswell, lucky no one coming the other way, as you can imagine I was knocking along a bit overtaking 15 MOTORBIKES in one go, in my VAN. Seriously if bikes are out on a group ride and riding so slow, at least ride at the speed limit and not bunch together so much as to cause a traffic jam behind you, (it was pretty close to Lycra Territory). I bet on their Forum "Some White (Black) Van man was driving like a dick over taking us all what is his problem :p

Seriously thinking of just removing the ferrule, trimming the pole down & sticking the ferrule back on.

5mm ? If they are designed to bend in the tent they will bend individually. Or carry a separate tube outside the box for the poles.
