I am planning on posting a progress of this bike shortly, but for now i have come across a small problem.

after removing the stock mudguard and back mounting from my 125 cruiser and fabricating a new mounting section for lights and number plate. I realised i welded the mount flat from the rear section of the frame. Now the back wheel when the shocks compress hits the new mounting section.

I was thinking of several solutions for this

    1. Remove shocks and fix a soild strut instead to stop wheel hitting.

    2. moving the shocks closer to the center of the bike to force the rear wheel to sit lower than before and leave clearance from the mount.

    3. Mounting a second set of shocks to absorb more of the bounce and stiffen the rear end up and reduce travel of the back wheel.

If anyone has any though would be much apreciated.

... or just cut the mount off again and refit it somewhere else?

I solved the problem by shifting the original shocks forward a bit and mounting my spare set of my old honda cg125 as they are a bit longer further back. not the tidyest of jobs but effective. DSC_0034 (2).gif

Now the back wheel sits about 4 inches lower than before and has plent of clearance even with me boncing on it.......

IMHO this may be a recipe for a disaster, with the shocks operating at different angles, I hate to think of the torsion forces on the swinging arm/frame and the bending forces on the weaker of the shocks.

i totally agree with Rob........this has to be a wind up ....right? different rates of compression and return ?...what calculations went into this set up?

I've never heard of a four-shock rear setup before but I hope it works out the way you want it to... it's got more shock absorbers than my car atm so it should be comfy at least

Guys, Mike was gonna move the shock mount at the top only! so that the tyre wouldn't touch the bracket? I went around to have a look and tried to persuade him to leave the shock mounts alone, cut the bracket off and re-engineer it. Not heard anything since.

I've seen 'paired shocks' in Asia. They do it quite a lot on home made sidecars and the like. HOWEVER. They use matching pairs and they mount them parallel to one another. :geek:
