ok i know its a bike forum but felt this was worth sharing.

not sure how many of you watch wheeler dealers but recently saw an episode where the mechanic used a system called Terraclean to improve poor emmisions.
being the sceptic i am i kinda flipped it off and took no notice but then it started popping up quite a bit so i took to looking at some reveiws and was shocked to see nothing but positive comments.

    So what is terraclean

its superrefined fuels that de carbonise your fuel system from entry point to exhaust resulting in lower emissions, improved fuel economy and better engine performance ( ok theres a bit more science to it than that but im not going to claim to know it)

    Does it work?.....yup
evidence?.....following pre clean and post clean emmisions tests emmisions were considerably lowered.
throttle response was improved , engine ran smoother and already car displays a 1mpg improved fuel consumption ( and thats after only 20 miles)

I did ask if it wouldwork on motorcycles and was told " if its got an engine it can work)

The ? I would ask. "how long does it work for?", and 2nd ? how much difference would it make if you had been running super unleaded for a long timer?

they say to keep it mega clean then once a year before mot, but having said that mines a 13 year old car and was fairly clean to begin with but still showed improvement.
its also a 4.4 V8 which demands super unleaded as standard for best performance and MPG and it still benefited from the treatment seeing the HC ppm drop from 11ppm vol to 4ppm vol and as previously stated a noteable improvement in running

in anticipation of your next question ...cost?.....£80 +vat for vehicles over 2.0 litre , obviously cheaper for cars under 2.0 litre

Not adviseable if you suspect an injector issue though

most injector issues are due to blockage or partial blockage, this product removes the residue and gumming from the injectors, carbon from the engine, its sensors and the exhaust system including the cat....basically from point of entry as a fluid to point of exit as a gas its working to remove the foreign bodies that dont belong. however i can imagine that an injector not recieving a signal would cause a problem as the product just wouldnt get through that point of the system although id expect a good garage like Swale MOT centre would pick up on an engine running a missing cyclinder due to a failed injector but still a good call KA.

I think maybe a leak test would need to be carried out before the cleaner was used. Just in case the seal had gone. Surely if it had, the cleaner would make it worse and speed up the death of said injector? Like you say though, a reputable garage would be checking this sort of thing before using.

f you suspected an injection issue, would you not want to test it and replace it instead of waiting till it caused a more serious issue and even let you down out on the road? PPM is a swear word now days :(

I was just being curious. I am as thick as the proverbial, so only way I learn is to question :)
