    They have just:

    A) Imposed a 40mph Speed Limit on this stretch
    B) Added a number of traffic islands....of course, they are on the good overtaking stretches.

The restriction has been there for a week or so but Plod were along there today with Speed Guns so beware.

don't worry the police are only doing their jobs as extra revenue collectors rather than their "old" job as crime fighters.:mad::mad::mad:

Is there a facility to ask why the change to islands & speed limit reduction?
(5 mins later). Ok, I've found the email for E Sussex so asked them myself but can guess the reply will be waffle.

Same as in Halland, Nr. Uckfield, 30 mph, Speed Camera, and islands, they had to remove an island as it was gonna cause a lorry to end up in the field. Ironic, no school in village, no houses on road, and I bet not more than 20 people walk up and down the road in a day. There has been more accidents since the 30 MPH

The Worse part when the speed camera was placed just up from the roundabout, it is was placed there because it was a policman's house, and he complained of the traffic accelerating off the roundabout up the short straight when it was 40 MPH, never an accident in that part of the road, the worst part is around the garden centre because the way they have changed the entrance in and out.

So it is in the Gardening Centre opening hours that there is the highest risk, but the Police who do regular mobile speed camera checks often do it out of hours or on a Sunday when the garden centre is closed all day. Of course when there is no risk of traffic having to slow down.

Better Still the main person who put up the fight to get a speed camera fitted on the main road, never lived on the main road, and now not even lives in the village at all

Halland must be a GREAT earner for them!! In the mornings when I used to travel up to Gatwick for work it was not uncommon for the Police to have a speed trap just around the corner from the Garden Centre. People would obviously drive slowly past the camera then speed up a little only to get nicked 200 yards later.
Likewise....East Hoathly Roundabout prior to Halland....they must earn a fortune there!

Reply from someone at customer services today says "Due to high number of accidents these measures were asked for by the community thru' their councillors & supported by the police but paid for by developers who recently built on the old Hellingly hospital site.'
Like I said, I don't even know that road but...waffle.

Tom posted a link where you could look accident statistics up...cant find it right now but that would show if it was a "blackspot".
