money can be spent on a bike to help it pass but there isn't anything that can be done to help you pass :mstckl:

Finally (I think) done with the painting of the bodywork.
All in all I can say it's been an experience but not one I'm likely to do again, unless I have no rush for the job to be finished and somewhere dust free to cut down between coat prep.

Now to wait a month or so for it to go off fully before a polish.

    Cheers dude, twice ;)
Still in the throws of the Leeds deal, the guy has all the bits ready but there's a looming EU legislation change towards modified vehicles (same as the bike thing) and until I get some real info on when it's likely to come into play and how heavily I'm not willing to dump money into a project that I might never be legal.

    Will keep you updated.

Classic cars will be, historic cars won't but the rules are they have to be bone standard to qualify.
As it stands it could go between no real changes for the UK and more lax countries needing to employ MoT type tests or we go german and you van only fit approved parts including bulbs and tyres!
In which case a modded vehicle would be possible but would have to pass a test like the current IVA etc, which a classic car has no hope in hell of doing.

The currebt whisper is that cosmetic changes won't be ruled out but you can't alter the engine, intake / exhaust, drivetrain (wheels included), lighting, suspension. Anything beyond window stickers basically.

but as per other laws i don't think they can back date it. hence old cars don't need seatbelts etc to pass an mot so i say do it and worry about it later :D

That only works while the vehicle remains in original form.
Once you make beyond X changes to a car it 'should' have an IVA, to ensure it's still roadworthy. At the moment this is a points based system, where if you exceed 8 points you need the test. An engine swap is only 1 point! :D

But if this legislation was to go the wrong way it could mean that ANY change from standard equipment would need one, which would suck :p

I have just got home to find a letter from Richard Howit MEP, who assures me that because of our MoT system changes as a result of the new legislation would be minimal.
    That's nice of him :p
Now I just need to get enough space for it... Anyone want to buy a Triumph?
