Finally got rid of the biggest pain in the arse off my gixxer. 35 mins and it was gone no more fecking set valve and I can honestly say I can't see why it's was even on there. Sounds throatier better throttle response and makes having mega's job easier when I have the link pipe done on the bike.

This could be a bit long winded (and heres hoping that some of may be in to flying even in a small way), but my mum found some papers that my Dad wrote about some of his flying exploits...Made me smile as there is so much we take for granted....Remember the year is 1957 and he was flying a Vickers Viking which carried no more than 27 passengers. His task was to fly from India to Accra the capital of Ghana. What got me (amongst other bits) was the following:

"As there was no flight navigator we would be restricted to day flying only...The thought of flying thousands of miles from India to West Africa for the first time was like a challenge. We would be flying over what what would be to us, uncharted territory...The Viking being an unpressured aircraft would mean that we would be flying at an altitude of NOT more than 10,000ft. At this height the range of any radio beacons for navigation purposes would be limited. Thus we would have to navigate by map reading where possible or by what is known as D/R, dead reckoning. But all this added to excitement."

Unbeleivable! Flying by maps! I only wish he wrote more as he clocked up over 20 thousand flying hours over 20 years and when I actually think about it he must have been one of the pioneering pilots going from propeller to jets! I must get his flying log back from my sister...Go on the POPS!

What gets me is you're held as 'at fault' when claiming, just for owning a bike/car so lose the NCB. When we lost 3 bikes overnight we were held at fault despite the alarm, locks & chains, plus cctv footage of it happening. Unless theres an admission/conviction that seems to be normal.
