After having a fun day at Brands in the wet yesterday with no issues, I am, today a tad peeved. Popped out for a ride after cleaning the bike, fine, but then didn't have a lot of life when firing her up for the trip home and enroute lost all the display including speedo whilst in a 30 so not being a complete knob switched off the lights. Hey presto speedo alive. Got home, two scuffed knuckles (they do bleed a lot for a tiny injury) and a burned finger later, the battery is dead, and a red hot regulator/rectifier. By the way the battery is a nice new Varta. Would I be right in thinking the regulator/rectifier should be my first point of attack.

They do heat up a bit in use, but shouldn't be red hot no. I'd try and get hold of a known working one (they're pretty much the same on every bike ever!) and try that.
    In short, yes. :)

Thanks for the confirmation Dave, I was, before feeling the heat, hoping water had got in somewhere yesterday.

I got a spare one for a 98 Fireblade, but I doubt it would fit your bike. Can you post pix of your R/R plug/socket.?
