As you know, we are heading back home the end of this year. But hubby has done the maths and it's cheaper to buy his dream RSV here, strip out the fluids and transport it to Australia; rather than buy it over there.

So, has anyone had any good experiences with any international transportation of motorbikes? Anything particular I should be asking or looking out for?

Do your figures include import duties? When I looked into moving to Oz the taxes made it stupidly expensive to import my bike over as I hadn't owned it for a year prior to immigration.

Are you taking house hold goods with you. Because when I worked for pickfords removels we would just crate the bike up and put in the container with the rest of the stuff.

I used King & Wilson from Melbourne to UK.
King & Wilson's counter party here were AngloPacific.

I know Anglo does cars, so I assume they would do Motorbikes aswell.

Import Tax in Oz like Hanna says is quite steep, but bikes are expensive there too...my sisters CBR250RR (17yrs old sold for about £4000) a few months ago. `not sure what happens on a 2nd hand bike older than a year...I think the import duty is graduated on a scale, but you prob have investigated this already...

These are the reasons I will not be able to have a decent bike when I move out to the Philippines. Import duties = 200% of their valuation, and anything over 150cc out there is only available to the rich and makes you a target for jackers and kidnappers. Somebody remind me why I would want to move.
