I took mine off today so that I could change the oil that was in it. It's the standard fit Suzuki one. I drained the old oil out and there was probably only about 10ml in there, if that!! I flushed all the old stuff out, and refilled it with 10wt fork oil. What a difference - steering was rock steady in a straight line, but going round a corner at traffic lights - strewth; a right bugger to turn. Felt really stiff.

I got all the air out of it, but should there be a tiny bit in there to allow it to move a bit easier? Or should I have just junked the thing??

Gixer dampers generally take 5wt fork oil or 7.5 if you want to stiffen it up, ;)

you dont want any air in there

I got some 5wt oil, and now I can turn a lot easier. The 10 was just too heavy for me in the traffic. People on the GSXR forums said use 20wt!!!! I think they were trackday boys though.

Before all it did was suck and click, now its nice and smooth,
