Just bought a pair of Michelin 2CTs and a slightly squared off Maxxis rear, all with loadsa tread left, for £50 delivered. Fitting and balancing is £12 a wheel at TAGG.

When I got my Bike, with 2,500 miles on the clock it came with Michelin PR’1.

I never felt really safe on the Bike and put that down to just returning to Biking after a 40 year gap.

A big nail killed the rear tyre so I got a pair of Dunlop Roadsmart fitted. That transformed the Bike for me, and the fear factor changed to the fun factor.

Having worn out the Roadsmarts, and having read such good reports, I fitted a pair of PR’3.

I’ve covered 1,500 miles on the PR’3, and I expect to be in a ‘club of 1’, but I do not find them as good as the Roadsmarts.

The first difference I found was that the Bike seemed to turn in faster, well that’s a difference, not necessarily better or worse. The best way I can describe it as if the bike had wide tyres removed and very, very narrow tyres fitted.

What I really do not like about the PR3 is how much the steering gets affected by poor road surfaces, compared to Roadsmarts.

I know I am a ‘comeback kid’ and have a lot to learn, but I have driven my CBF1000 10,000 miles in under 2 years, so I am not just the occasional rider.

The problem is most apparent in ultra slow speed riding in dense stationery traffic when filtering – before I could drive at a speed slower that most people walk, and do it with ease, but now, every road imperfection seems to have a big impact on the steering, so when slowly passing between rows of cars I have to do it feet lightly dragging on the ground instead of feet on the pegs.

I find the same problem at speed when in a curve, and the road surface is not to good – a lot of ‘twitching’ from the steering, which I never had before, or at least, not so noticeable.

On a good road surface, I find the PR’3 great – just don’t seem to have many good road surfaces left any more.

I don’t think I have read one bad word about PR’3, but this is just my opinion, based on my experience.

My tyre pressures are correct, as is my wheel alignment.
