i want to powder coat my clutch case, my concern is the little glass window for the oil level indicator, would the glass crack with heat of oven and sealing mastic melt ? or can the glass be taken out and replaced without to much hassle, any 1 have positive views on this.

The glass may survive, but the seal won,t. Buy a spare and refit with a new seal after coating. Clean Powdercoat from seal face before refitting.

As Alan says, get a replacement seal. Definitely remove the glass and seal before sending it for coating, as should the seal melt in the oven it will contaminate the powder coat. The powder coaters should mask off the seal face for you, if you point it out.

i have managed to get inspection window and seal out without any damage to seal, i cut around the mastic with a Stanly knife cleaned cleaned that away, then put two small screw drivers through metal cage and on to back of case and eased it out, it will go back OK with a good gasket sealant, so hopefully 2moz get it shot blasted and prepared for powder coat, along with spare sprocket cover, so thnx for advice,

Either do it yerself or ask them to mask the seal face, before coating, or you will be having some fun with a craftknife!!!

    hi m8.
have done all the masking up , its ready for shot blasting, made a alloy disc to fit into seal face, then after shot blasting its being bolted on to a alloy plate, so no paint will be inside of cover.

Bike on side stand, length of wood under right footpeg to pitch the bike up and forwards. Clutch case change without oil loss
