    Noticing this...

    And then doing this...

Now to decide whether I learn to fix it myself or pay someone like ChipsAway to sort it.

The first ones are always the worst, doesn't make it any better though

I'd say you should use your incredible talent for nail varnish selection and find the same shade, touch it in a little proud of the paint surface and leave it a few days to dry, you can then rubbing compound it down to a near match finish.
Yellow will show the little marks a bit more, just remember it's still a fantastic machine and you can't see em when you're riding ;) if it doesn't have a few marks then you're not using it enough.

That'd be easier for colour matching, aye!
2000grit wet & dry will level it out nicely, give it plenty of drying time. Plus means you have good reason to give it a polish and wax after.

After getting a cancellation appointment to see the neurologist in hope of hearing their diagnosis for my misbehaving leg problem, they offered the slightly ropey suggestions of "it could be some nerve degradation around the lesion or maybe restricted blood flow" but have no actual proof of either nor could they explain why nerves dying near the injury (chest height) would be effecting my legs (much lower in the spine) with cramps and spasms, loss of conductivity should manifest as loss of function not increased.
Then there was the conundrum of the bulged disc (actually at a point that could affect the leg neurons) the MRI showed it as not contacting any nerves, but he couldn't decisively answer that the radiographer had considered if it could do so when under load, torsion etc. Given that my legs were calm during the MRI any aggitation wouldn't be present, surely?

My working knowledge of neurology isn't comparable to his of course, but my understanding of problem solving says that when there is no obvious cause, removing all possible factors is the logical approach. As opposed to the current suggestion of pump my spine with muscle relaxent, eliminating the sympton but not addressing the cause at all.
I've now be referred to another doctor. The saga continues!

The CNS is a funny thing. You may find you are looking at a partially-adapted regrowth of function: I am told your body will do its best to reinstall functions by connecting up new neural pathways after trauma. The time it takes varies greatly by the extent of the efforts to restart by the individual concerned, the actual function which has been lost and the size and complexity of operation of the muscles whose function has been lost.

I'm sure the neurologist will be very careful in what he says - it would be inaccurate and very unkind to suggest brightly, "Mr Murphy, this is a Good Thing" (assuming he's a fan of '1066 and All That'). But human bodies do keep trying to repair themselves and adopt 'work-around' solutions - hence many people who wear worn shoes have back problems as their hips tilt unnaturally to accommodate unequal leg lengths. The trick the medical profession need to maintain is to control this phenomenon in such a way as to prevent it causing you distress and giving you an excuse to use with that irritating bloke you just kicked! :giggle:

Are you going on a dyno to get proper read-outs? ;)

It is indeed, I have a working knowledge of neurology from my time spent relaxing at the Stoke Mandeville spinal holiday village. Having a need to understand things, coupled with 3months laying on my back was good opportunity :p
Regrowth would make sense, randomly firing nerves seeking to get some feedback. But his suggestion was it was actually degradation that was the problem, lowering the amount of signal is unlikely to promote function. Ask any signaller :p

Interestingly the very first doctor I saw (in A&E before the whole peritonitus thing) suggested nerve regrowth and he was just triage.
I did suggest a dyno was in order to see exactly where along the fueling system the problem was coming from, he solomnly told me that the test to do so involved anesthetic and dye and in 5% of patients there were complications, sometime serious.
So, he doesn't want to confirm a diagnosis before administering high does of muscle relaxant via a pump fed device into my spine, assumingly to be left attached for the forseeable future.

I might try that approach next bike I work on "It might be this, but instead of test it I'm just going to replace the whole thing as occasionally a bolt gets rounded off".

There's no reason that you couldn't or haven't already accessed the same academic knowledge that any Dr has read/studied, it should all be out there, as you said above you have already focused on neurology. The only difference is the 'hands on' experience but theory should be consistent and accessible.

My point being ''professionals/specialists aren't always right or don't have enough time. Your opinions and diagnosis are very valid so keep on questioning and drilling down into what these people are telling you and offer them your thoughts. I'm sure you will anyway.
