Hmmm... all the other places I've ridden have had cafes nearby but hey ho, not this one. Powerbars are actually quite tasty... when you're knackered and in need of some kind of sustenance. :eat:

Anyway, knee isn't totally buggered - only if I overdo it does it flare up again, and I need to build up its strength... so I keep missing the fine line between building its strength and buggering it up totally. Ho hum.

Will catch up with you guys another time.

    Looks good to me!
Wondered if 11am from Blue Boys is ok with you all? If so, could meet any of the crew from down Hastings way at Battle Abbey at 10am with view to being at Blue Boys for 10.30ish.

Excellent day - thank you Leila for the inspiration, Rob for the perspiration (of amending my naive route suggestion) and everyone generally for their patience in waiting for that geezer on the GSX-R fitted with a 125 engine (ahem). Decent turnout for a ffffff freezing but beautifully sunny day; some patches of hard water hiding in the shadows before 11:00 but otherwise we just had to put up with occasional excesses of grit and gravel laid carefully on the riding line through downhill bends. Very thoughtful of the council, I'm sure.

I enjoyed meeting a foreign gent at the Blue Boys RV looking not at all swarthy going by the site name of Aman Calle Drob (whose real name is err, 'Rob' and he isn't actually foreign). Oops. That's the trouble you get into by trying to be culturally sensitive. However, he may not wholly have enjoyed his meeting with us, because our last stop (at the 1066 - closed again) involved all of us spotting different things wrong with his lovely red VFR and as each new fault was announced, his face fell further and further. Suffice to say, he wasn't going straight home after the ride - he was so desperate it was via Halfrauds for 'a few bits and pieces'. Hope you got home ok, Rob, and you have enough money left for dinner tonight.

I know we went near the sea at some point because one of the villages was called Seaford or something similar and I swear I saw a sea gull in the car park of the McDonalds. This was not the gustatory experience some of us craved; it wasn't even warming, since for reasons unknown to this writer, there was a group decision to park ourselves outside. Well, the sun was shining, so why not? I had to plead even for people to come and stand by the seats while I ate. It was far warmer on the bikes, we all decided later, so set off pointing away from the sun and kept going until Leila suddenly dived off to the right between some houses in the middle of a village. The mystery deepened as she led the way inside what seemed to be the back door to an unknown cafe, so shy it didn't have a sign outside. This was soon revealed to be Chez Steve - who had bailed out earlier as it was fffffff freezing (did I mention that?) but paid for his cowardice by needing to produce half a dozen teas and coffees at short notice. Very decent, Steve - thanks a lot!

Super ride, everyone; very, very enjoyable. Now, a hot shower is the order of the day, methinks... SECB has arrived.jpg

Calm down, Jim - we're sure he'll fix it.

Hmmn. Poor Rob isn't sure he can fix it. There, there... listen to Father Jim's soothing words and go in peace.

Well I made up for my leaky caliper by washing the bike, then lubed and tightened the chain, replaced the perished wellnuts in the fairing, now she's parked up until payday when she's off for new rear pads and a peek at that leaky pipe. New front discs next month, I think...

Nice to meet you today Rob. Do you service the bike yourself or to you entrust it to a garage?

Good day out. Better roads this afternoon as far too many 40mph speed limits this morning. Can't they be abolished due to being a threat to my health and safety?

Most things I can do myself, but with no driveway there's only so much you can do by the roadside. For anything that involves stripping the engine any further than the throttle bodies, or anything to do with the brakes, I get an expert on the job :)
