AAAAAAAAAAARGH, there I was heading out of Maidstone on a wet and dismal evening on Thursday and my bike was severely playing up, it was 'hunting' like it needed fuel, so I was gassing it by bliping the throttle to stop it from stalling, all of a sudden the problem cleared and the damn thing shot forward..........just as I went through a speed camera and bugger me the bloody thing flashed! Is this excuse going to stand up in court yer honour? :(
Wouldn't mind getting busted if I was 'looning' up the road on one wheel flicking a 'V', but this is almost embaressing!

Many years ago I got myself unbanned after being snapped in excess of twice the limit, went to appeal in court and I was let off just enouh points to keep my license because I illustrated I'd been trained to a high standard and while in heindsight my decision to overtake an erraticly moving vehicle could, which i felt presented a clear danger was perhaps not the best course of action compared to dropping back and waiting. Once I had commited to my choice I made sure I was causing no risk to other road users or myself and completed the overtake as quickly as possible before continuing my journey at the speed limit, due to the power of the modern motorcyle my speed of acceration was far higher than intended but my focus was on avoiding the hazard, not my speedo.

That and the CPS got on the judges bad side by not providing copies for all of the bench

Just wait, as someone said, in case of no film etc. If you do get 'the letter' have a good check to see if any mistakes have been made & ask for a copy of the evidence (photo). If that all checks out I guess you could plead to it & attend court with your mitigation, but they'll be hard to convince without some proof/witness that it just 'shot forward'.
Dave, glad for you that the CPS (being useless) worked to your advantage. IMO they are a complete waste:(, always going for the easy option. The amount of criticism they get from stipes/trial judges speak volumes.

I don`t know about other counties but Sussex allow 10% +2mph before you are sent a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution). I also led to believe that even though you are allowed a minimum 10% leeway to allow for "speedo errors" a speed camera (gatso type at least) WILL flash at anything above the speed limit its set for, mainly as a warning.

Most speed cameras are being changed from "film" to digital which will store the pics on a hard drive, so the chances of it being "full" are significantly reduced. I also heard a rumour that the data from these drives may be downloaded via wireless (similar to the mobile phone networks) reducing this even further.

In reality, all you can do is see if the NIP turns up & take it from there.

One that should know better, and one that's in the public eye!
He should be given treble jail time for that! The piece of constabulary shit,

If I ever get busted while giving the Busa the beans, I'll just say that I'm familiarising myself with my vehicle oraficer......:rubhands:

Bet your life it won't work for me or 'us'........

You've got 14 days of waiting for the nip's (notice of intended prosecution) to arrive starting from the day the picture was taken, so keep a record of the date you got flashed and the date if the dreaded letter arrives! 14 days or before  after 14 days or if it doesn't arrive :D.

You could go back to the speed camera to see if it has a camera lens fitted (a few have no camera installed due to the equipment costs) but they move the camera around, so one that has none fitted one week may have one fitted the following week.

Cheers chaps, it flashed twice and I glimpsed my speedo at around 40 but this is no indication cos the damn thing works on delayed response and also gets stuck quite often, when I decelerate which I did of course after the first flash, the speedo wouldn't have dropped back to give me an accurate reading. Hey ho thems the breaks! Did have 9 points for a while back in the day but had a clean licence for the last 6 yrs or so, obviously through luck rather than law abiding riding, but then that's the same for most of us!:D Fingers crossed, will let you know, knowing my luck I'll get offered a bloody rider awareness course or something!

Dave wouldn't go anywhere near it I'm sure! He has some street cred to consider and being seen on my 15 year old GS 500 E winter hack ain't gonna help! The law would never believe that! Better off telling them my wife is a pervert and made me do it! (Have I got my wires crossed?) :giggle::giggle:
