Its a 20+4 rather than 24 +4 layout on the mobo. The 24pin plug from the PSU is split as a 20+4 so you can`t get it wrong. Its not a vast problem other thah I wasted 3 hours in total by the time I got the old bits back in Sues.

You should likely have 2 psu connections to the mobo, a seperate 4pin and then the large 20 / 24 pin connector. The mobo will need the seperate 4pin rail attached to work but not the bottom part of the 20pin connector.
Or, a single rail psu will work ok on a dual rail mobo providing the seperate 4pin is powered. Leaving the bottom 4pins on the large connector empy.

    I have now & it still doesn`t work ;)

Skortchio: Actually I mistyped that its a 20+4 connector with a separate 4+4 12v line from the PSU. The mobo takes a 20pin & a separate 4 pin 12v rail on the other side of the board. Fact is, old board works fine, "new" one doesn`t, put old on back in works again. Was just trying to get Sue a cheap upgrade but looks like I`ll have to shell out & get her brand new bits rather than cast offs.

before you write it off as shot fella i can have a nose for you. dont need a case or anything just the board and cpu. i have a setup in my workshop to test mobos without the faff of putting them in cases etc.

came home after shopping to find one fence panel down and one dangling.. 2 broken fence posts, both snapped at the base  . so looks like il be spending my weekend digging out chunks of old post and concrete instead of tinkering with the bike

No 1. Not getting on here in a while.
No 2 - mainly because a week before Xmas my daughter happened to open a letter to the *owner* of the house she renst from a private landlord- handled by a letting Agent - the letter saying that as he has not (landlord) paid Mortgage for past 6 months and not contacted them at all teh receievers will be brought in in next 7 days if outstanding debts are not paid !!!
No3. Rapid phone call to the Letting Agent to see whats happening and as they not been paid either - they not interested ........
No 4 - Search for a new place to rent for her and four kids ---------- get that all sorted in the few days left upto xmas
No 5 Inform Agents of a months notice (her crontract is up for renewal on 4th jan anway -and rent paid till 12th. Then saying that its nothing to do with them but they would assume landlord will take her to court for the weeks rent missing yeh f*cking right he will !!!

Anyway - she moves on Friday - back to our village (from Gillingham) and hoping it goes smoothly cos bless her she has coped admirably with the kids Chritsmas and packing her home for the move ..........
sorry it was long - if you read it quick it wont seem aslong xxx
