    No more suffering.
May the family be given the strength to deal with this.

A friend passes, we feel shock and pain,
Our time will come and we will see them again.
For now, we shall start to grieve their passing,
But our memories will be everlasting.

Going to pick up my new (to me) carb. Or more accurately getting half way home only to find it's a 38mm same as I dropped off, not a 44!

    Balls.

    My condolences.
It would seem that anything written now would seem trivial...

I was going to try to beat Hanna to the keyboard and write something about 'i before e except after c' but the Immobiliser Incident of last night reminded me to be a little more 'umble, guv'nor.

I was fortunate to have one of those work meetings yesterday afternoon where I can go on my bike and nobody would be fussed that I am in leathers. All was well until waving goodbye to folks and attempting to restart the bike: I pressed the round RH button on the Datatool blipper as usual to disarm the system and there was no answering 'beep' with single flash of lights from the bike. I pressed the oval LH button (which turns off the movement sensor) and this worked perfectly. Those who are mathematically gifted (and so bored this morning that they wish to try) may wish to figure how many variations of button pressing there can be. I do believe I tried them all.

Nothing. Not a sausage. Nada. Nix; zip, mafi and bu££er all. Oh, except for a couple of 30 second alarm shrieks which brought out three of the neighbours from surrounding houses, one of whom observed helpfully that he'd ripped 'that thing out of his Aprilia Falco years back'.

I called the AA. Within two minutes I had a twenty minute wait for a date with somebody in a yellow van. I'd have to wheel the machine about 50 feet to the road side so he could see me. Without thinking I pressed the RH button ...and the bike beeped back at me as though all was in order. Then it started, first press of the button!

I called the AA and thanked them for their attention but wouldn't be needing on this occasion...

Any ideas what to try to fix on the Datatool thing? The spare blipper (at home) worked perfectly and promptly; the usual one worked, but with a delay in response. I'd change the battery, but having opened the thing, can't see one! Anybody here a Datatool expert?

Change the battery, mine is the A23 job. it sits across the bottom of the board. I last changed mine in the middle of France in the rain. I always carry a spare just in case as I have been caught out before.

Aha! So... Robert is my mother's brother. Almost... I didn't have the wit to extract the circuit board and see what was hiding at its base. I have now done so, prompted by GR's post. There was the battery - hooray! I checked the battery code: CR 2016. I have one of those! Hooray!

Fetched said new CR 2016. Started to slide out old ready to substitute new when I discovered there are actually two batteries in the thing. :think1:Booooo! Now it's Sunday night and nowhere will be open. Never mind - Rob thanks v.m. I now know what to do: buy three CR 2016s so I have a couple spare. :TY::tup:
