never done this before. what are the catches and how much do I need to add on extra to factor in ebay commission and paypal charges to recoup the cost of the tickets?

depending on start price you may have an insertion fee, then ebay take 10% of the final value . if you use paypal, then they take around 2% i think.

Given up selling on eBay now; the charges are getting stupid. Plus I seem to attract the numpties who bid on things to spoil the auction, or people who constantly pester me with emails making stupid offers.

EG; sell something for £100. You pay 10% of the final value, plus any charges for insertion and B.I.N. option and reserve price option... Might as well give it away methinks.

I now put stuff on Gumtree (free), or just put it on bike forums. I ask whoever buys the item to pay me with PayPal, but to pay using the 'gift' option. That way I avoid any PayPal fees. More :cash: for me.

I send the stuff out using the agreement that our company has with DHL/Yodel (boss has OK'd it as long as we don't take the pi$$). Flat rate of £3.90 for anything up to 25KG, and the company pays for it. So I charge a fiver flat rate so that's even MORE :cash: for me.

i much prefer to use relevant forums if poss, as you say less fees, plus the added bonus youre helping people you know out. hence why all my mr2 bits are being sold through the owners forums, computer bits i tend to go through forums, gumtree or local free ads.
