Although I didn't need to buy one after all. Some of you may remember the blue ER5 John used to ride sometimes. It belongs to my son now, but he handed it over when I asked to borrow it, without even a whimper, and once Phil got hold of it he had it low enough for me to ride in minutes. So now I don't need to spend very much of my savings to get back on the road.
Insurance, MOT and tax shouldn't be too hard to sort out and I've ordered a set of grip puppies so I can get hold of the throttle a bit better. Hopefully I'll be back on the road much sooner then expected. It's not a Triumph and it's not purple but it's a bike and quite a good, low mileage one so I'm very happy and looking forward to getting used to riding it. :)

Of course, borrowing the bike turned out to be almost impossible. It turns out that the owner of the bike also has to have insurance or the insurance companies just don't want to know and taxing it was also more complicated, so in the end I had to buy it. Stuart was somewhat surprised to find he was no longer the owner by the time he got home from work but he took it very well.
It passed the MOT test with no problem so I'm ready to start getting used to it. I thought I always knew what gear I in without looking at the gear indicator on the Triumph, but it seems I have slipped into the habit without realising, so deciding which gear I'm in turned out to be mostly guesswork.
I have to go and do some work this morning but I'm dying to get on with cleaning it up and getting out on it later. It will be interesting to see how it looks when it's clean.

@Beelady Emma, I've missed something important: are you no longer astride a Striple? What happened? It is a lovely machine...

It's being difficult. Things electrical have meant it has been sent to sit on the naughty step at Laguna's until it has learnt it's lesson.

Tsk, tsk. Just for an awful moment I misunderstood that you'd parted company with it. If Lucas, Prince of Darkness has called for it to do penance, then you'll just have to do without it for a wee while.
