I seriously would want my money back, nor would I ever buy this version of a 2nd hand bike.

I hate Engines and Gearboxes being split on a new vehicle, it seems to always leads to other problems a few years down the line, especially on cars.

You spend all that money on a new bike, and then some mechanic that may have never done the job before.
2nd hand value must be effected on this model

Can you ask for money back or a new bike with mods built at factory? if bike is like a year old?

Plus this is the second recall notice on the bike, maybe someone was asleep in quality control

name a new bike that hasn't had a recall in the first two years of production ?

Triumph? nope they had a few
BMW ? nope they even recall crash helmets
    Ducati ? quite a list
    Even Hondas

I think any completely new bike has issues for the first few years as owners put mileage on them and things come to light. 2rd generations models normally fix most issues so just wait a few years and all will be fine :D

Think there is a slight difference of an engine / gearbox split, rebuild gearbox and slap back together, and hope that the dodgy Grease monkey has a slight clue of what he is doing. :(

i dont know when you look at some recalls for brakes plus I bet its a cartridge style gearbox on the R1 which means it's designed to slot in and out with ease.

To correct this defect, your authorized Yamaha dealer will replace the transmission assembly with one that includes gears of a different design. The procedure takes almost 16 hours to do but be aware that your Yamaha dealer may need to keep your motorcycle longer depending upon their current service schedule.

yeah I just checked they don't do the cartridge for yamahas it's some new seamless gearbox, great for GP bikes but maybe not so good for road bikes
