    Collecting my bike this morning after 4,000 mile service and MoT and being made to pay only £230. That included the VAT, the MoT 2 1/2 hours of labour and some adjustment, lubrication and twiddling; oh, and two cups of coffee.

    Point Number 1 - I do like the blokes at FastLane (Tonbridge) who could have stung me for another battery and rebuilt the rear brake system and I'd never have known different. They chose not to do so and I think honest service is worth highlighting.

    Point Number 2 - Now bike is serviced and fueled a strange feeling has come over me:

    I'm Free!!!
    :disco::mdance::disco:
    Except, of course, I'm not. I just feel that way. So until I manage to make :cash:, that will have to do.

    And please no more spending out After discs and repair kit my wife will kill me.

    Would assume its "japanese/chinese speak" for refilling the system and bleeding the air out.

    I've done that rob but still soft lever feel when I asked was told I may need to repressurise the master cylinder something about filling fluid into to bleed nipples. But have not got the faintest idea as never heard of this before

    What bleeding kit do you have?

    I think that's like bleeding a system but in reverse, i.e. using a syringe to force fluid back through the bleed nipple so the system is 'under pressure'...although I can't see how this is any good as surely any 'pressure' in the system will cause the brake pads to apply! :laugh:

    Never had a problem bleeding the usual way, have you tried riding the bike; as I've found the brake feel can improve after a few applications? :thumbsup:

    I agree with those above as the system can only be under pressure when the lever is used. I've also heard of the reverse bleed thing but have never needed to do it.

    I've bled the system and I ride the to work the lever feels spongy it's like there is still air in system but there is no more bubbles when bled

    Best I can suggest then is cabletie the lever hard back against the handlebar and leave overnight. Hopefully the air bubbles will rise.

    The idea being you are helping gravity to push any trapped air upwards. with a "bleeed" pipe attached to the caliper nipple you are trying to push any air downwards against gravity. As to " will cause the brade pads to apply" I can only assume you are totally unaware of the principles of hydraulics!
    P.S. "brakes improve after a few applications" is commonly known as "pumping".
    In such a situation, hopefully you will never be behind me if you need to to brake hard and quick.

    Loosen the lid, only leave it off if it in a dry garage and you can guarantee no dust/rain/etc will get in it. Brake Fluid absorbs moisture!!
    Mmm that a point I assume you are using new fluid and not some from a half full tin thats been opened before.
