Right, here's the start of another helmet that I've been asked to paint. As Hanna is soon to get her black & yellow BMW, she's asked me to paint her helmet to match the bike (not sure where she got that idea from?!). Took ages to scrub out the decals, so have sprayed the whole thing in high-fill primer in readiness for a rub-down with wet & dry to get it truly flat. So it looks like I'll be spending a lot of the week sanding this AND my petrol tank... just in time for the weather being almost warm enough for me to start painting again next weekend.

If you want to know what colour scheme & style she's chosen, it's easiest to ask Hanna!

I'll post more pics as I progress over the next couple of weeks.

In my defence, that is/was my spare lid that I bought cheaply for a pillion who happened to also wear an XS. It's only been used twice so it would be nice to get some proper use out of it.

Aaaaah - the egg saga. Yes, we get through quite a few. I'll be sure to include it in the next pics!

Here's today's update. High-fill primer done & sanded. Grey primer done & sanded. First light coat of black done. Second (full) coat of black done.

Next is to wet & dry the black coat before applying some more.

Can you do the eyes and mouth of the joker (heath ledger one that is) like they did on the T-shirts? :)

Once I get an airbrush system in a couple of weeks, yes. All I'd need is the image you're after and a rough sketch regarding how you want it placed on the helmet and what background colour you want etc etc.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A new crash helmet must be purchased! Its pretty simple really (he says) I will dig out my daughters T shirt and take a pic to give you an idea of whether you can do it and how much. :) :):)

Ok, no problem. If you buy a lid, please try to buy a plain one with no decals!

Ok it will be black or white. You may be able to advise me on that once you have seen the image.

Here's the decal that will go on the back of the lid.

    Hi Fergy

Ok - this image. I could airbrush that onto (preferably) a white helmet for £100 plus materials (likely to be about £30). However, to be honest, it'd probably be more economic to have the image made into three or four seperate decals, put them onto the lid and then apply a clear (non-yellowing) lacquer over the top. You could do this for about £40 or so all-in I guess. It won't have the same depth, but would look pretty much the same from a distance.

Let me know what you'd prefer.
