Just a little review of Powerbronze.

I bought some crash protectors and cotton reels from Powerbronze, when they arrived the bolt for the cotton reels were a size M6, however the bolts on my STR’s swingarm are a size M8. Naturally the first thing I did was check that I had not made a mistake myself and ordered the incorrect item, but my receipt showed that I had ordered the correct item for my bike.

I contacted Powerbronze who said that I had definitely been sent the correct item and that the bolts were the correct size for my bike, slightly bemused I did a bit of googling which uncovered that Triumph had changed the bolt size for the cotton reels for my year of bike onwards from an M6 to an M8, I informed Powerbronze of this and they replied saying that they didn’t know what I was talking about, their R&D department thoroughly tested all products, but would send me a set of M8 bolts.

The M8 bolts finally arrived after having to chase Powerbronze several times and I eagerly went to fit my cotton reels, the M8 bolts were the correct size to bolt into the swingarm, however the problem now was that the larger bolts no longer fitted through the cotton reels themselves…I informed Powerbronze of this who then asked if I could come to their offices in Worthing so that they could see for themselves as they did not believe me and that they were open Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm, now this was not convenient for me as I work Monday to Friday 9am till 5:30pm and I told them this…However I do not think they understand why it would not be convenient for me.

After more communication and raising a paypal dispute which was found in my favour they kindly let me return the items for a refund, however they did inform me in a strongly worded letter that I was letting bikers everywhere down by my insistence in not visiting them…Needless to say I will not be buying from Powerbronze again.

I would also add that I found a chap on ebay and bought the same things off him for half the price and they fitted perfectly....So obviously someone in his garden shed has a better R&D department that Powerbronze.

Tell them that if they REALLY want to sort this out, they`d send someone to you considering you work longer hours than they do.

Yes, especially as I had to pay the return postage for something that was their error...before anyone says I realise my consumer rights say that they should reimburse me but apparently the paypal T&C specifically say otherwise.

On the bright side.......now it will more than likely be spread around that this cowboy outfit aren't worth a w*nk thus losing them sales.

That's a bit of a ballache all round, fella.

I use evotech for my delrin parts (sliders / mushrooms / etc) they're cheaper than R&G and excellent design, I won't say quality (even though they are) because lets be honest, it's a chunk of plastic :p

If you're going for crash protectors / frame sliders too, I'd advise you get ones with a cross bar mounting (like mine :D) the single bolt ones have been shown to be a bit flimsy when impacting tarmac, the crossbar helps immensely by absorbing the impact, flexing and distributing the load across the bolts.

Powerbronze stuff always was a bit Mickey Mouse, alright for the most part but far better on the market. Glad it's sorted now though.

you have given bikers a bad name now Russ  i mean clearly as a biker you should bunk off work and take any chance to ride :D

of course i guess there are no bikers at power bronze or one of them would have jumped on their bike anf headed over to see you

there can only be one outcome, never buy a product for a bike from someone who doesn't ride a bike :D
