Defo a biker primarily but also like my car and fast cars generally, although the reality these days is, rain/snow = car. Been riding 35 years so ridden in all the nasty stuff the UK can offer. My last car MOT showed up 3.5k miles done in the car as opposed to the 11.5k ive done on the Honda since getting it in April. Harley miles not included but must be at least 1k this year.

By no means a 'fair weather' biker (I ride all year and in all elements), but own a couple of cars too. Mainly for practical reasons - transporting the wife / dog / shopping etc.

Need a car for work, it is a company car and not ny own so does that count? I do about 40,000 miles a year in the car and about 7ish on the bike. The bike doesnt get tucked away for winter, although every year I say I will!

Not so bad really, been doing it for years now. Help having a half decent car though!

I think even in your four ringed mean machine, 40k would be pushing it for me!

A mate of mine has said a number of occaiaions that he couldnt do what I do, but he is a lazy shit and a sponger! But unfortunately I cant find a local job that pays enough and has the perks that I enjoy, so it's a small price to pay really. Atleast i get home every night and dont have to work week ends like my last job!

I did have a car but got rid of earlier this year as it was too expensive to run on a day to day basis. But will have to some how get another one at some point because the wifes pregnant and with two kid already will need one.

I honestly don't know how anyone can afford to run a car.

Even though I would probably like a car, there's no real point in having one in London. When I move out, I may throw money away (assuming I have any).

Started out with only a car, Triumph Spitfire lovely jubbly! Then spent 15 years as a "pure" biker, only having a car for one year during that time when some b***ards nicked my R6 in Spain ! Since moving back to UK a few years ago have had van, bike and car. Sadly sold the van before moving to Thailand and I have to admit I would much rather have that than the car! I tend to use bike majority of time as car is too damn expensive to fuel!

I've only been riding since June this year... I've been driving for 13 years... I think I'm primarily a driver and just have the bike for fun... Who knows... maybe it'll change when I've spent more time on the bike... I certanly don't drive as much as I did before... I got in the car for the first time in 2 weeks on Tuesday evening this week and there was a huge spider web from the sunvisor to the dash... I cleared it away and drove off then while on the motorway doing 70 (+ a little bit for good luck) it appeared right in front of my face! Damn spiders!

I used to always have a car - like cars too - but can't afford a car and a bike now, so just the bike. The family car is my wife's Alfa, and I tend to do the driving on long trips and at weekends. Also drive at work quite a lot.

The way most modern bikes are, it's no dearer and often cheaper running a car. Of course, if you want similar levels of performance, it will cost loads, but the days of bikes being the cheaper option are long gone. You can get cheaper to run (commuter) bikes, but I bet not many on here run them.

Yep, other than better performance, the thrill, ease of parking & an excuse for not carrying passengers (Yes but apart from that...what did the Romans ever do for us) I agree most cars are far more practical & cheaper to run.

Never owed a car, but I expect the time will come when I get too old to lift me leg high enough to get on a bike.
