    A 1.75" carb, such as an Su hif44 or even a set of twin 38's at a push?
    After 250 miles run, Ogy isn't picking up the way he should. Part of this is from not being run for 5 years + but on inspection he's also fitted with a teeny carb (850 standard) so needs something bigger to breathe properly.

    I can pay in beer, servicing, paintwork or possibly cash.

    I thought twin 1 1/2" SU carbs were the most desired set up for road work on Coopers? Obviously with manifold to suit... Have you posted on any Mini enthusiast websites?

    Twins are nice but a pita to set up and it appears vastly more expensive for the most part.

    Have thrown up posts on the 3 forums I'm on, but they all seem fairly keen on keeping hold of their carbs :p
    Looking for an auto jumble / scrap dealers also.

    It is true that Webers had the reputation for keeping themselves in tune better. I have a PDF of an Oselli tuning guide from 1970 for BMC engines - PM me your email and I can send it through - you'll smile at some of the claims: (with appropriate tuning) "...70 mph can become a cruising speed instead of an uncomfortable top speed" :)

    I suspect rejetting it would be a challenge and a half. "...should work properly" - hmmn!

    Got that saved, cheers RW.

    The general feeling is that a 1275 should do a comfortable 70, I suspect the lack of fueling and shocking exhaust are robbing me.
    Re jetting is not hard to do, thanks to Stars and stripes <3 I have a good exhaust and a bunch of needles to jet with.
    Might even throw the spare head on (once I swap out the massive valve springs, unless anyone has an uprated cam? ;) )

    Is it a 1275GT? if so, it should crack the ton with not too much hassles. I know 2 mates that had them & they both went like rockets.

    Found another one Dave HERE which also has a buy it now option which may fit even though I just noticed its for a mini metro.

    Not a GT no, its actually a metro 1300 engine. Had it up to 80 eventually, it just cant pull enough fuel, the gt has a 44 carb.
    Have a couple watched on eBay but unless I have more.money than I'm pretty sure I do, 70 quid without manifold is a bit high. :(

    To fit webers you need top relocate the speedo and have the trumpets in its space
    Go on dave give the reece fish carb and manifold a go!!!!!!

    I might give it a try, just to see. But I suspect the seals are shot and I'll lose more fuel than goes in the engine :p
    Maybe this weekend, once I've undersealed the car. Not sure it will even fit...

    I never tried it either, but its not as big as a weber, Good luck (and keep a fire extiguisher handy)
    I used a HIF45 from a 2 litre montego :rubhands: but that was for a 1480cc

    Hi dave just been reading an article on Bike carbs for car engines, they seem to have alot more power for a lot less money, but the article was mainly around fords and vauxhalls (no mention of the A series engine) but worth a thought, weber and manifold = £1700 bike carbs £100-200 same output with more torque

    Hey man, yeah I've seen r1 and fazer (same carbs) used on minis, its an idea but requires some engineering to mount at the right angle for the float bowl. There's also the issue of the govenor rod for the kick down. But definately a plan for the long term.
